As Seen On:

As Seen On:

You’ve always loved animals, but working with them AND making a good living has always felt out of reach.

While you always thought you’d become a veterinarian or animal trainer, those routes weren't an option for you — either due to the financial requirements or the time commitment of school. You crossed that dream off your bucket list and settled into a job that paid the bills instead.

Laboring through a job you don’t love every day is getting old.

You know there’s something more to life than living paycheck to paycheck.

You wonder if you made the right career choice, but money is tight as it is now… without trying to figure out how to get into uber-competitive and expensive veterinary schools. In fact, that’s why you never went down that path in the first place.
Still, when you think about looking into their big soulful eyes, you can’t imagine anything you want to do more than work and play with animals every day.

If you could find a way to earn a decent living doing what you love and helping animals live a better life at the same time, you’d make the leap in a heartbeat.

It would be a rewarding and amazing change from where you are now — knowing you are making a difference with your work and enjoying it.

It just keeps coming back to whether or not you can make it work, both from a financial standpoint and the lifestyle change of shifting back to becoming a student.

Hear this, animal lover: you are not alone!

The truth is that veterinary school (and most animal-based careers) is an incredible undertaking for those who can get in — devoting YEARS and hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Veterinary school is out of reach for so many...which is why loads of animal lovers compromise in their careers by taking jobs they don’t love to pay their bills. They hang that dream up as just that - a dream.

While working a soul-draining job is better than not paying your bills, it’s definitely less than fulfilling, at best. And at worst, you dread going into work every day.

The real reason you’re not doing a job you love isn’t because you didn’t go to veterinary school or that the perfect career doesn’t exist.

It’s because you just haven’t found the right animal-oriented/focused career yet - one that generates the income you desire while fulfilling your dreams.

Americans spend $99 billion dollars every year on their pets, and as a professional groomer you can have a piece of that pie, all while:
Breaking free of the daily grind
Gaining flexibility and taking control of your schedule
Creating a business that feeds your soul AND pays the bills
Building a clientele who appreciates what you do
Working with and caring for animals like you’ve always wanted

Hi, I’m

Erica Salvemini

I’m an empath, Master Reiki practitioner, and the creator and CEO of the Just 4 Paws Pet Spa, a compassionate pet care brand and grooming academy.

Today, I love what I do. However, nearly two decades ago, I was where you are now...exhausted, burnt-out, and going to work every day in a job that drained the life out of me.

Now, I’ve always loved animals, and growing up I always had pets — 4-6 cats, dogs, ferrets, and turtles at any given time. I find a powerful connection with them...they keep me grounded and help me find peace.

Finally, one day, I woke up and realized that no one was going to change my life for me. I had to take the steps to change it for myself. I asked myself How can I make money and do something I have passion for?

Almost immediately, I decided to start a mobile grooming service — and I started making money the very first day. Because I love animals, I treat people’s pets as if they were my own — compassionately and with respect — which is what differentiates me from other groomers.
The pet care industry is still unregulated, which makes grooming a potentially dangerous experience for many pets. And since so many people either don’t have the right training, are unaware of the work involved in being a groomer, or don’t know how to handle themselves when animals are stressed, it can lead to less-than-awesome tragic experiences for the animals.

I’m on a mission to make the grooming industry safer for animals and give other animal lovers the professional skills and the mindset they need to calm both themselves and stressed-out pets. That’s why I created the academy side of my business — I want to help people just like you to get into the industry, make the best choices for the animals in your care, and have a profitable career you love. There’s a shortage of groomers, it’s a growing industry, and we’re considered “essential workers” since animals always
need care — so it’s a great opportunity for people who love animals and don’t mind the work that goes into taking care of them.

With over 17 years of experience in the pet care industry, and the maximum certification available — 600 hours of professional pet grooming training, I created the academy side of my business to help empathic animal lovers just like you learn the skills they need.

And, with more business out there than my team and I can handle, I’m channeling and distilling those 17 years into this course so that you too can break free of that unfulfilling day job that makes you feel like you’re just going through the motions in life. Instead of fighting yourself to get out of bed each morning, you can create a profitable career and business you love.

INTRODUCING

The Compassionate Pet Groomer’s Guide

An Animal Lover’s Journey to Finding Career Bliss

A program to help compassionate animal lovers learn the grooming, communication, and business skills they need to create a thriving and profitable grooming practice that feeds their soul and allows them to follow their passion for working with animals.

As part of The Compassionate Pet Groomer’s Guide, you’ll get

7 learning modules to help you learn the skills you need to become a professional groomer with a profitable business
24 videos, tools, and activities to help you understand best practices for professional groomers.

Introductory Module

Understanding Your Energy and the Animal’s Energy

Success as a groomer starts with understanding the role of the groomer in the animal’s life, as well as the energy exchange between groomers and animals. Since animals pick up on everything we do, in Module 1, we’ll dig into grounding yourself and reading the animal’s signals. This will give you a strong foundation in calming pets of all breeds and temperaments and treating them compassionately so they have a positive experience with you.

We’ll use the following tools and videos:

  • Why Does Your Energy Matter? Video, so that you can understand your role as a groomer.
  • What Is The Animal’s Energy Video, so that you can learn how to read the animal’s signals and get grounded.
  • Evaluate Your Energy Exercise, so that you can better understand your approach and how you connect with animals.
  • How to Get Grounded Guidelines, so that you have a few options for calming exercises and can ground yourself when an animal is stressed to give them the best care possible.
  • 10 Tips For Calming Your Pet Clients Checklist, so that you can refer back anytime one of your animal clients is stressed out.
  • Learning How To Read The Animal’s Energy Primer, so that you can learn the signs that indicate an animal is experiencing stress.
  • Recommended Reading Resources, so that you have a list of extra resources if you want to take a deeper dive into animal energy and your energy.

Module 01

Visualizing Your Grooming Career

Understanding the type of groomer you want to be will guide your studies and help you create a career that gives you the life you want while serving your clients. In this introductory module, we’ll dig into the types of grooming, the options in front of you as a groomer, the pros, and cons of owning a business vs being an employee, and we’ll use vision casting to help you decide how you want to show up in your grooming practice.

Module 02

Your Role in the Health and Wellbeing of the Dog

As a groomer, you’re on the front line of your pet clients’ health. Part of your role is working with their owners to understand health issues they know about, and also communicating any issues you find as you groom the pet. In Module 3, you’ll learn about dogs of all sizes and breeds — their anatomy and common issues to watch for — as well as how to communicate with pet owners.

We’ll use the following tools and videos:

  • Dog Anatomy And Health Communication Video, so that you know how to identify what owners know about their pets and how to communicate any issues you find to the owners.
  • Knowing Dogs’ Health, Illnesses, Diseases, And Parasites Video, so that you know the issues to watch for as you care for your pet clients.
  • Checklist Of Questions To Ask At Drop Off, so that you know what to ask owners about the behavior, health, temperament, and coat condition.
  • Anatomy And Health Issue Reference Guide, so that you know what to look for in different areas of the body.
  • Tips for Successful Drop Off to help ensure the transition from the pet parent to working with the pet care professional

Module 03

Selection and Care of Equipment

Having the right tools for the breed you’re working on is essential. In Module 2, we’ll dig into the types of equipment you’ll need as a groomer, which tools work best for which breeds and types of coats, and know how to take care of each product so that you can protect your equipment investment.

We’ll use the following tools and videos:

  • Different Tools for Different Jobs Video, so that you understand the tools you need to groom different breeds and coat styles.
  • Important Tool Maintenance Video, so that you understand how to maintain the different types of tools.
  • Bather’s Toolbox, so that you have a list of equipment you need and know how to choose the right tool for the job.
  • Proper Tool Maintenance Reference Guide, so that you know how to take care of your tools.

Module 04

Safety and Sanitation for the Animals and You

Safety and sanitation are second only to the way you interact with your pet clients. In Module 4, you’ll learn how to keep your workstation safe for all your pet clients and prevent the spread of disease. We’ll also dig into best practices for your personal safety so that you know what to wear to prevent injury, how to avoid slipping and falling, what to do if an animal displays aggression, and how to care for your pet clients.

We’ll use the following tools and videos:

  • The Importance of Safety and Sanitation Video, so that you can understand how to protect yourself and the animals you work with from illness and safety hazards.
  • Safety and Sanitation Checklist, so that you can develop exceptional processes and rituals to keep your space clean and safe for both you and your clients.
  • Personal Safety Best Practices Guide, so that you understand how to keep yourself safe.

Module 05

Bathing the Dog

Bathing can be stressful for some dogs. In Module 5, we’ll dive deep into the process of bathing and how to choose the products you need to bathe your clients. Most importantly, we’ll explore energetic tips for managing the dog’s stress as well as your own to help you develop the coping mechanisms you need in the event that you experience challenging situations like an uncooperative or suddenly aggressive animal.

We’ll use the following tools and videos:

Grooming the Dog

Grooming the dog starts with knowing the process from start to finish. You’ll walk away with the information and resources you need to perform basic cuts and styles, treat animals with respect and compassion while they’re in your care, and work with pets who are nervous or less than enthusiastic about their time with you.
